I am Florian Prado. I am a draughtsman in the Caen area and Normandy in general.
I set up my own business four years ago. I work for individuals and professionals.
I take care of extensions, fences, facade modifications... I offer to help professionals save time. I make the building surveys, clean up the plans and put together the file once the project has been validated.
Your daily challenges?
Working with professionals, I have to be reactive. The aim is to save them time, especially on the survey part. This phase usually requires time and concentration.
So the more accurate the survey, the more accurate the plans. I won't have to be puzzled in putting all the plans on the computer.
And the plans are accurate and precise, so I can avoid problems on site.
Why iMapper?
Unlike other professional 3D scanners, the iMapper costs much less.
The iMapper also adapts to the way I work. I work on different types of projects and therefore on different software. I don't necessarily need 3D plans. The iMapper produces 2D point clouds that can be imported in several software programs (Autocad, Archicad, etc.). So, I juggle software according to my projects.
It was the time savings and precision that made me decide to go for it.
When my project files started to pile up, I needed to save time and money. Between the outside appointments, the time spent on the phone, my output was starting to shrink a bit.
The iMapper saves me time. The platform is very intuitive. I no longer get lost in my notes and annotations. For example, I scanned a restaurant of almost 400 m² and three floors in just one hour. Then the scans are saved until I want to work on the project.
What was it like to survey before iMapper?
I used to arrive at the customer's appointment with the tape measure and the laser...
It is a long and tedious process. It could be very complicated when the rooms are cluttered. I can't reach certain areas with the old laser meter. The hand measurement is a step that requires a lot of concentration. After long hours of measuring, you get tired.
Before iMapper, we used to take notes on a dozen sheets of paper... that's a lot of organisation.
When taking measurements, the client may be standing next to me and talking... which makes the task very stressful. Oversights are common.
What is it like now?
In three months, I have already done about fifteen surveys with the iMapper. I save time. I arrive at a site with peace of mind . When I leave, I'm not tired anymore.
I took my measurements with the iMapper and compared them with the old method. In the same place, I found that I took half the time.
My measurements are correct even on old buildings that do not have a straight wall. The iMapper is autonomous and very accurate. For roofs in particular, I place the iMapper in the desired direction and obtain exact cross-sections of the building.
What would you say to companies to convince them to use iMapper?
The time saving is a very good argument. If you dread the survey phase because it is long and tedious, the iMapper is what you need.
There is no more headache and stress of forgetting or making mistakes.
